HOW YOGA and HEALING ARTS WORK
Scientific studies have
shown that with the regular practice of yoga, anxiety decreases, flexibility
increases, and a general sense of well being rises. "Yoga", a
Sanskrit term, means "union", or "to yoke or bind". In yogic terms, we are
referring to the union between the modern split of mind, body, and spirit.
Modern fragmentation produced by a lifestyle of stress, over-scheduling and fast
food can be healed through the science and practice of yoga.
BREATHING -
Through the yogic science of improving
breath capacity, the stress response is soothed, high blood pressure lowered,
and hormones regulated. Efficient breathing increases awareness and calms
emotional reactivity. Life is ultimately measured by the quality of our
breath, rather than by the quantity of them.
YOGA
POSTURES

Through the infinite
creativity of moving in and out of ancient yoga postures, a natural flexibility
occurs. This "flexibility" not only refers to the lubrication of joints and ease
of physical pain and tension, but also to flexibility in thinking and to
approaching life. Creative movement in the body yields creative movement
through life.
HEALING
ARTS -The practice of massage
and healing touch is among the oldest medical practices. The earliest reference to
massage is found in China from the second century B.C. in The Yellow
Emperor's Classic of Internal Medicine . Countless texts can be found in
ancient Greece and Rome, including Hippocrates, the "Father of Medicine",
asserting that doctors should incorporate massage into their treatment.
Gentle Massage, and related modalities such as
Foot Reflexology and Cranial Sacral Therapy, improves circulation, induces relaxation, and improves
the elasticity of the skin, along with scores of additional benefits.
